Ruytons
Bruno Mendes of Woods Bagot envisioned the Margaret McRae Centre at the exclusive Ruyton Girls’ School in Kew to be unique, with a concrete façade that had a twist. STONEKAST, in collaboration with Woods Bagot, brought this vision to life by creating a subtle tactile effect for the rain screen façade using a combination of different coloured and textured concrete wall panels. These panels, seamlessly transitioning from the exterior to the interior and back out again, give the impression of a building enveloped in concrete, with the luxurious glass panelling at each end of the design providing a striking contrast.
STONEKAST concrete experts collaborated with the design and construction teams, advising on aesthetic and technical matters. During the design process, the STONEKAST team created a large sample panel using scaled-down units to convey Bruno Mendes’ design vision to the school committee.
